Hello everyone...


i don't know about all of you, but i search ebay almost ever other day for new cheap car parts... wether or not i have anymoney to spend on them! ;)

usually, i find something i can't resist, and i'm forced to borrow money from whomever i can to buy the darn thing... it's a DISEASE i tell you! hehe

so...

While searching ebay the other day, i came across a t3/t4 hybrid turbo, that had been used on a saab 900...

i wish to use this turbo on my 2.0L 1990 9000 turbo.

I wrote the guy, and he seemed legit, spoke to him on the phone a few times... and we almost came to an agreement where we would trade turbos straight up with no cash.

i have a brand new T25 turbo, never been used, and it's worth just about as much as his is in it's used condition... about 3000 miles i think.

I won the auction, for $400, and he decided NOT to trade turbos, so i had to come up with the cash, which i have now, so that's all good. I sold my T25 for $250... plus shippping...

someone got a deal i tell ya! ;)

now, i have till tuesday to make payment... and after that he's going to relist it.

I can pay him well before that, so that's not a problem, it's just that i've got an opportunity to back down if i want to... which he would LOVE because he's angry that the turbo only sold for $400, and he wants to relist it for more.

Some reasons why i'd want to back down now, are things like...

1. since the turbo was used on a 900, will it even fit on my 9000?
(i understand i'll have to swap out manifolds and cooling lines to fit
a t3 turbine... but will THAT even work)

2. his car overheated and "melted pistons", or just overheated and died in general....

...so does this make the turbo a likely candidate for failing also???

He says the turbo has no shaft play, spins freely, and still looks as new as the day he bought it, but does overheating ruin a turbo?

3. do you think it's worth buying the turbo for half off it's original price, considering it is used?


i've only seen one picture of this turbo, i'm waiting at least until monday until i see more pictures of it. he's VERY SLOW on e-mail and phone call replies, which makes this whole process a big pain. I might be leaving him neutral feedback as a result...

I'm happy with the T25, but i crave more power, and more boost, as always

i can make 20PSI with my t25 turbo right now as it is, but with a larger more effective turbo, i'm sure my engine would be eager to make MORE! :)
