Yes, the T7 tries to make things invariant, but what is does do is control the air flow thru the MAF. That closely controls torque for -any poarticular- setup.
But, when you reduce intake or exhaust restructions, the turbo then has to work less hard to make the boost required to get the target mass air flow. The wastegate is then more open and the pressure in the exhaust manifold will be less. That is a direct increase in shaft HP. There are sencondary synergies that also occur that increase power, but I will not go into that.
I don't understand why the ECU would be doing major adjustment with the throttle when it as control of the BPC valve. Now to maintain any control with the TB plate, it cannot be right at 90 degrees as there is a response dead zone where the plate is just moving in its own wake. So I can see how from a process control point of view, that the plate would not be at 90 degrees. Other than that, I plead ingnorant about whats really going on with the plate and what is observed with throttle plate data.
But with ECU mods and approaching 300HP on a 2.3L engine, the benefits of a low restriction DP may be more a case of not overheating and cracking pistons. So different objectives will become primary as the power is increased.
