on my red 93 Aero. I first had the clearcoat removed from the wheel lips only by a guy who had a metal lathe. He cut and straightend the lips, and made sure the rims were all round.
Then I rough sanded all of the grey paint. I bought a couple of spraycans of metallic grey anthracite at pepboys, I think it was a Duplicolor kit, and a can of clear.
Then carefully masked and cleaned the paint, and laid down the first coat. After they dried I wet-sanded the first coat and applied a second and third, then wet sanded again then the clear coat.
yeah, kind of a pain in the butt, but man, they look nice, and all I have to polish is the lips. The thing with bead blasting the wheel, is what are you going to do with the plastic center cap? Try to paint it to match I guess.
I don't have a pic on the web to post here, but if you want me to e-mail you some pics I would be happy to.
