I talked to Dave (900 Aero). He was very helpful and is sending me some good condition cam sprockets. He thought I might only have to replace the old ones and properly reset the cams to the crank. He thought that the pistons were solid enough that the valves wouldnt bust them. He also suggested I test the compression, and if it was good in all cylinders my valves are probably OK as well.
So I came in off the ledge. : )
Jak, when you say lash, do you mean space between the cams and the lifters?
Does base circle mean the part of the cam without the lobe on it?
Should I be able to fit a feeler gauge between them?
If I want to put the pistons half-way down, should I turn the flywheel 180 degrees?
Hmmm. So i'm thinking about what you said about TDC. Is the #1 cylinder always up when the flywheel is at 0 degrees? Or can it be down? Im still a bit fuzzy.
Many thanks,
BB
