Thanks for your posting and hope You're having a great weekend!
It sounds like the combination of additional fuel injector pulse duration and base/gain of your pressure regulation is allowing for an initial rich fuel delivery.
Our fuel EPROM is typically designed to be more closely matched to starting engine modifications to 225 BHP. When delivered as part of the APC package, the fuel curve is matched for use with the red top fuel injectors, APC modifications and factory 2.5 bar fpr. We also match more progressive fuel programming to work with the 3.0-3.2 bar rail pressure regulation for higher engine horsepower targets (starting modifications plus cylinder head, camshafts,etc).
In your case, a reduction of pressure regulation may be a simple method of reducing initial fuel deliveries.
Jay could also tailor your EPROM to reduce injector duration for use with a 3.0 bar fuel pressure regulation and this would only require information from you relative to air/fuel ratios (via dyno).
