I don't plan on spending money there.
Let's see, since I spent the cash over about a 18 month period, I never really totalled it. Goes something like this:
Sport Exhaust: $250 parts, six pack labor (to myself. Did it on a Saturday morning in the garage). Took about two hours for me to do it on ramps. Probably one for a professional.
Abbott ECU and wastegate: $850, $75 labor. (Actually this was a B-day gift from my wife last December) I found it was so simple to do however, I could have done it. BTW, Call Abbott at 888-953-SAAB or email him at info@abbottamerica.com. Dave Whitesides hasn't updated his website lately as he's busy setting up the business. He's local to me so I met him and we went to a local Saab Speedshop and installed the stuff.
Forge BOV, $135 at http://www.stratmosphere.com. Labor, about 5 minues of my time.
AutoMeter boost gauge. Christmas presend from Dad, but I know it's around $75 for the gauge, $20 for the A-pilar pod. I installed this, but it was a bitch getting under the dash and routing pneumatic line through the firewall. Plan between 4 and 6 hours to do...
I have the Abbott Springs. A Christmas gift from my ever loving wife this past year. I know they cost aroucn $350. The local Saab mech wants about $380 to install. Haven't done it yet, but my front bearing needs work tomorrow. May get the fronts done while the hub is off...
On the handling front you can spend nearly as much as on the engine. The springs I'm doing now and should also get the Koni Shocks, another chunk of coin. But also the Abbott Viggen Rescue Kit is supposed to really tighten things up and help prevent the camber steering you feel on the road. BTW it gets much worse with the extra power. I plan on doing it, however the budget is at the limit for a while. Need to recover..;-)
I look at this as a hobby. It's a never ending project. I want to do an airbox with a K&N cone filter, Viggen IC and other mods. I don't expect it all to happen at once either. Whatever the budget and time allows.
So let's see, around $2500 so far. But don't look at it this way. Just do one thing at a time. Budget for that and do it. I look at $2500 now and I'm thinking JEEZ, that's a lot to spend. The $850 for the ECU was a lofty goal that I had worked for actually since I bought the car back in '97.
Hope this helps. Keep safe, and keep Saabing!
