im finally pulling the motor and am haqving a hard time with, of all things, the shift rod taper screw. does anyone know how this pin is to be removed? i only post this here since many of you have removed engines...i've been tapping on it and it is not budging, and i dont want to damage the rod.
thanks for any advice. -fyi, the car is on jackstands-

it's the small taper screw that secures the shift rod coming from the shifter to the rod that goes into the 5 speed. the retaining nut is undernerath the car in front of the steering axle/rack.

ill move on to some other things and check back in a few-
