Hey Tom. The main way to tell that the car is happier with the exhaust is by watching the boost. Before the boost would taper off in the upper rpm's. There were also a few instances where the car knocked after running it fairly hard and boost would be cut way back when this happened. Now the boost does not taper and holds steady through the entire rpm range. Without the full exhuast upgrade, the torque curve felt lumpy because it was constantly having to cut back on the power to keep from knocking. It felt as if it was running "on the brink" of pinging itself to death. Now it is smooth as butter all the way to redline.
The Saab sport exhaust is very nice but if you are going with a 3" downpipe you are better off sticking with 3" all the way back. The only 3" system you can order that I know of is JT. I had my system custom made by Jak (http://www.jakstollperformance.com). Using 2 mufflers will give you a nice sporty sound without being obtrusive. When cruising and not on the boost, it sounds very close to stock. Open it up and it gets louder as the boost increases. My system has a sport cat as well. I run the system with stage 1/2 BSR software and its a very nice balance. With the auto, your midrange torque might be limited a bit but the top end should be close to the same. Nordic is a good tuner and the upgraded fuel pressure regulator they include is a good idea as well.
I have not yet been on a dyno to test the power levels or a/f ratio. I plan to do so at some point though.
Hope this helps!
