o2 sensors and a/f measurement Posted by bryan [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: air/fuel gauge, Drew in Houston, Mon, 25 Jul 2005 18:07:13 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
what i've heard from a reliable tuner is that the wideband O2 sensor isn't needed after tuning until tuning and tweaking is done. it has been suggested that two bungs be installed in the downpipe one for the wideband and one for the oem sensor, which may be why the innovatge lm-1 is sold with a bung and a bung plug. this keeps the expensive wideband fresh, puts the wear on the oem sensor, and saves money on sensors over time.
if this is the case, so it may be. does this suggest that the a/f gauge is more accurately measured by a gauge using the oem sensor or a gauge using the wideband sensor? seems like if onnovate sells the wideband with a bung and a plug, than they agree that running oem sensor after tuning is appropriate, which would mean the sensors measuring a/f with the oem sensor is appropriately accurate.
