You'll never know. Although I have to say i'm not overly excited about the newer cars, too much GM deflavorizing for my tastes. And also Harleys have lost all their meaning now that the majority of riders are doctors and lawyers during the week and 'bad boys' on the weekends. the new mid-life crisis vehicle.

BTW, the Audi and the BMW aren't as safe as the saab. BMW is pretty close, Audi not very close in real world loss data.

As far as 'no one being able to find the creak and groan in the drivers door'....that's hogwash...anybody can find squeaks and rattles if they are competent, know how a car works and goes together. I think you might want to find new mechanics. It also helps to give them specific info, can you make it groan and squeak? if it can be reproduced, then it should easily be found.

That being said, I would never buy a Saab new. Terrible depreciation relative to other makes.

The other cars you mentioned are nice rides...people end up in saabs for various reasons, my excuse is that I learned to drive on one and have always liked working on them, working on a saab you get an appreciation that someone was actually thinking about the design and construction and thought that maybe somebody might be back in her someday to fix something. BMW's are well made too and I've been impressed with them, most work I've done on cars other than saabs is BMW. They use timing belts instead of chains and seem to last about 90 minutes past the 60K timing intervals. I just think they're overpriced and I don't the image associated with BMW's (Look at me! I know nothing about cars and I have an inferiority complex! Look at me!)

Do some searches on Audi's lately though...Talk about massive amounts of complaints about rattles and squeaks on the newer ones. I rode in a TT and they are VERY cool, but also very expensive and some parts are incredibly cheesy...the roadsters have only a one layer top, you look up at the cheap ass looking plated (not chromed) reinforcing bars. Dumb.

Sounds like maybe you should have researched your purchase beforehand...why DID you buy a saab?
