I've driven my share of different cars. Regularly aspirated Saabs, 900 Turbos, 9000 turbos, 9-5 Aero, Porsche: 911S ('67), 914, 928, 928 S4, 944, 944S (my old ride), new Maximas, BMWs, and various trucks.

My conclusion: The Saabs have been the best, by far. I loved Porsches, and was blinded by their quality for a long time. I was also bashed in the head by the repair costs. Holy cow! Out of the bunch, the 911 and the 2 928s are the only cars that could even keep up with my Saab. Ok, they would probably smoke it, but at what price?

The Viggen is a squirly car. Isn't that what flight school is for? Performance minded cars do not always come with the maximum as far as comfort. For me, Saab interiors are excellent: simple, clean, and easy to use. They are so well designed (for me!) that getting in other cars makes me feel uncomfortable. Speaking of uncomfortable, I will NEVER drive another car on a daily basis besides a Saab. That saying "Saabs save lives" is no joke. Too many crazy people out there not to be wrapped in something as safe as a Saab. I think it is unfair to dismiss a car because of a few squeaks. Buy some butyl tape and be done with it. (sold at Saab dealerships)

Lastly, for my once-a-month-comment on this subject: Saabs are unique, more so than any other car I see on the road on a regular basis. Sounds like a contradiction, but Saabs and their owners are special people, people who know what they own, and that people who don't own them have no idea what they are missing.
