Not sure if you could, but a C5 drivetrain would be great, helpful to move the trans weight to the rear. I don't know if that would work but it's a thought.
What are your ultimate plans? If you want a 1/4 mile pounder you'll choose one set of gears for the rearend while if you want to cruise the highway without stopping at every rest stop for gas you'll need another set of gears.
LS1 swaps are a dime a dozen it seems, LS1 motors (and the new LS2) just seem to find there way into everything, miatas, volvo 240, nissan 240z, 280z, 240sx, rx7, they seem to go anywhere.
I myself have though of possible power sources for this swap. I had thought a b234R mounted longitudinally powering some manner of manual trans with some sort of rear end. The suspension would obviously need a heck of a revamp if you're trying to put 400hp (for my modded b234r in my dream) to the ground.
