I could go on at length about checking ignition timing, but I will not do that here. Please do your homework. Get a Haynes manual for your car. It will detail the procedure. You will need a timing light and some other tools. If you want to do this yourself, do your homework. If not, find an experienced operator who has the knowledge, experience, and equipment.
I recognize that this is primarily an amateur board and am not wanting to toot my horn as a (as it happens, saab-owning) professional to the exclusion or insult of amateurs.
That said, checking ignition timing is a process easily gone wrong, even with pretty good information like what you can find in the Haynes manual for your car. 30 years experience and I screwed up on a Honda just the other day. So when you jump in with apparently no investigation into how to do it, and want it explained over the internet, I simply say, ain't happening, like, you have to learn the alphabet before you can spell actual words.
Your best bet is to find a competent and sympathetic professional or experienced party who can show you.
