The clicking sound may be a stuck trip odometer, or the whole odometer is
going to quit.  My 1990 900S did the same thing before it added 400,000
miles to the odometer and died, the odometer, that is.  Now I just keep a
log of my miles driven so I know when to maintain what.

Good luck!  Of course others on the list will think of a jillion other
things it could be, and.....who knows???
