1987 900
Posted by Paul Ritten (more from Paul Ritten) on Tue, 19 Dec 2000 12:45:43
Hi all,
I'm the new owner of a 1987 900s, as a matter of fact this is my first Saab altogether
(and perhaps my last!). We got it for my brother several years ago after a mechanic
shop replaced the engine. It never has been all that reliable (at least since my family
got it) This summer it finally died on him, he was driving and suddenly it started
running very roughly and shortly died altogether. This fall I had it shipped to me with
hopes of getting it running for my wife.

The car will start and run for a few moments after sitting for several days, although
touching the accellerator will immediately kill the engine. After the initial start up,
the car will no longer start, merely cough a little as the started is engaged. It seems
as though the ignition is being cut out by the car. I replaced the knock sensor since
it tested bad with my multimeter, but with no effect. Any ideas? Thank you
Paul
