hi

the 'waste gate' is the first of two protections for the engine (to keep ot
from getting too much turb boost pressure). If it is not operating
correctly, you can feel the secondary protection-- the fuel cut off-- in
action when too much boost is about to reach the engine (e.g., when
accelerating hard). This is a very abrupt transition from acceleration to
reduced engine output. I suppose the SAAB system is fairly sophisticated,
so that power will continue, but at a lower level after the intial cut back.

we have felt this in our volvo, when we disblaed the waste gate ;-)
