Speedometer transducer - 1988 9000 [saabnow]

Subject: Speedometer transducer - 1988 9000 ================= My speedo just dropped stopped working, after 15 year and at 215,xxx. Go figure! <grin> The dreaded Haynes manual helped me find the transducer, but I can't seem to figure out how to pull it out.
Haynes indicated that if this were a later model, it would have a retaining screw and electrical connector; mine has neither. The transducer has a big hex head on it (like the later transducer), but turning it, which is pretty easy, does not result in upward movement of the sensor. I don't feel like I am turning threads, plus, it starts twisting up the wire, so I don't think this is the way this transducer is removed.
Below the transducer, on the tranny case, is a bolt head, which looks like it could potentially be used to keep the transducer from coming out. . . . Like it fits in a groove cut around the transducer. I'm going to try to remove this bolt next, but if anyone has experience in this area, I'd love to hear from you. While I miss my speedometer, I miss my cruise control even more.
Thanks in advance,
