Subject: Re: 9-5 4-cylinder PCV question ================= Ok lets start with the most concerning issue, yellow brown scum. When you say that the dipstick kept coming up with yellow brown scum on it did you mean a little on the sides up high or where the oil normally adhears? If the oil you are pulling up at teh base of the dipstick is the scum you speak of then you are mixing oil and water, you have to figure out where the water is coming from. Often, unfortunately, it is a bad head gasket. If you only have a little scum up high it could be the cold weather is causing some condensation. So need a little better description here.
Fumes are common with a hot engine.
pcv system, where the tube enteres the valve cover there should be a nipple with one big tube out of the top and a smaller vacuume tube out the side, does this fit the description? if not I am not sure what we are discussing.
