Scotia and we have a large autoport in Halifax. Volvo, until recently 
assembled its cars in aplant in Halifax and then individually they were 
driven NOT trailer to the dock for loading so they would have ten or km 
at the outset of their 'delivery journey'. Also most cars from Europe 
arrive at the port and are driven off the ship to one of severall huge 
parking lots.....you have not lived until you have seen 300 or 400 of 
the newest model BMW or Mecredes or Jag sitting together, the first time 
I drove my sons around down there they could not believe it....from the 
parking lots they are driven to a central loading spot for rail delivery 
to variuos locations around Canada and USA. They'd be driven off the 
rail car and I assume parked somewhere to subsequently be loaded onto 
trucks for delivery to dealers.....go figure.
