Arc vs Aero..... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Tue, 28 Dec 2004 13:39:49 In Reply to: Considering 9-3, Don [Profile/Gallery] , Mon, 27 Dec 2004 17:55:13 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
For some folks the slightly lower chassis, 10mm lower, with it's protruding spoilers (especially the front which is 2" lower plus the 10mm lower chassis!), and 17" wheels is a recipe for disaster. My 9-5 Aero, jsut for example, is all beat up on the front spoiler and the rims are gouged, by I don't mind, I like the firmer feel of an Aeros lowered sport chassis. And I like the look.
For others it can be just useless, fragile, decorations. If you wound up with an Aero and weren't an aggressive driver you probably wouldn't mind the ride. The 9-3 sport chassis still gives a decent ride. So if your only reason for getting an Aero is the sport seats then you won't suffer with the Aero's sport chassis.
But an Arc still has the same 210 hp motor and the same brakes, is less expensive, and still handles fabulously. It's not the sport chassis or the 17's that make a 9-3SS handle. It's the weight distribution and the ReAxe passiver rear wheel steering.
For a lot of folks the Aero styling enhancements speak to them. More practical folks like the Arc, which is less expensive and just as fast.
Me I'd get an Arc with the optional 17" wheels, the best of both!
