I've got more of a thumping noise going on from the passenger side rear area of the car when going over small bumps- it's especially noticeable when going over a succession of small bumps at lower speeds. I saw a posting here that the rear plastic inner wheel well liners can make noises and mine seemed to be doing this when I moved them around. I lined the lower edge with self adhesive weatherstrips so it no longer made the noise when I moved it around. However, I was still hearing the thumping when going over bumps. I think it has something to do with the passenger side rear fold down seatback since the noise is either not there or not the same when I fold the seat down. I'll have to test it with someone sitting at that location to see if the noise is gone with the weight on the seat. My '95 900S made noises when new from the fold down rear seats- on that one the noise came from the hinge on the floor since there was a little play in it. It eventually went away. Also make sure you go through everything in the spare tire/toolkit area to be certain things are secure. Even take it all out and drive around to test if the noise is still there. I was sometimes hearing a metallic sound so I wrapped the torx screwdrivers in paper towels and that noise went away.
