Satellite Antenna Placement

I currently purchased Sirius Satellite radio for my 2005 Saab 93, and I have the antenna placed inside the car on the dash (near the middle). Unfortunately, the reception is not very good. The channels keep going in and out, even on open road. Is there something in the windshield that might be preventing the satellites to penetrate through? Does anyone else experience this issue? I am thinking of putting the antenna outside the car, but would rather avoid that if possible.
Thank you in advance for any information.
