So I got the 9-3 Aero with navigation after all, and since then, it's hard to go anywhere without it. I love seeing which way it takes me, as it will choose the fastest or shortest (my choice) way to go. 95% of the time it's astonishingly good. It's very good with forks in the road. I think at one point it said, "at the traffic circle, make the third right turn." It's easy to set, the voice is pleasant, and between the voice, the icon in the SID, and the map which pops up a zoomed-in version of each intersection everytime you have to make a move, it's hard to go wrong. That said, it's not perfect. Occasionally on back roads it will tell you to make a right turn when it's really just a very sharp curve in the same road. And once I was confused as to where I was supposed to make a right turn, and I turned on the wrong one, but no matter, the system automatically rerouted me where I had to be. If i had looked at the map, i wouldn't have turned wrong. And, it's great at rerouting. If you get off at the wrong exit or drive in the opposite direction it tells you, it doesn't protest and just finds you another way to go.
All in all, I'm really happy with it and use it far more than I thought I would before I got it. I hope this helps all of you out there who have been looking for answers on this.
