99 Viggen Blown Engine - What to do

I've got a 99 Viggen with 100,000 miles that had a very bad day on Saturday. I was driving home to Chicago and in 5th gear went to punch it and get around some slow moving traffic. I heard a muffled noise followed by white smoke coming our of the hood. Dealer inspection today as found 0 compression in cylinder 4, normal compression in the other 3 and 0 signs of the saab sludge.
His reccomendation is to replace the engine to the tune of 4K.
Looking for advice on if I should get this done or just scrap the beast?
Car was well maintained, oil changes ever 2-3K and 93 octane gas the whole time.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks
Mike
