Sorry that I can't help you from down here but what I do with my customers is to have them present and ok each change I make.
This is probably not feasiable at most dealer ships or big independant shops.
I can feel your frustration and is is many traps to step in when doing non default programming so for me it is a lot quicker to have the customer present and have him/her acknowledge if this and that is what they were hoping for.
Some years and models have features that another year/model doesn't have, so that can be frustrating too if the customer is asking for something that is not even possible on that particular car. In those cases it is better for me to just show them the Tech 2 screen that the option is not available.
The programming session might take a little bit longer this way and cost the customer more money, but at least they got what they wanted or could be done.
