Drove a 2.0 T SportCombi compared w/ '04 9-3 Linear Posted by Caarma [Email] (#592) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Caarma) on Thu, 10 Nov 2005 19:59:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So one of the local dealers had the only available SportCombi in the state of Michigan (or so he told me). I drove my 1004 9-3 Linear with 20,000 miles out to see it so I had the opportunity for a direct comparison.
2006 Improvements versus 2004 Linear
+ Steering feel is better on-center, less slop on turn in
+ Brakes are modulated better
+ Throttle progression no longer has that initial dead spot (hesitation)
+ If you get the Premium Pkg,
the stereo sounds much better (bass and high end from the rear)
the wood looks very good and rich
+ Cruise control indicator is now an ISO symbol not the hidden CRUISE
+ Warning zones on gages are brighter red now, not orange'ish
- Ash tray is gone, replaced by cubby hole
Negatives versus the 2004 9-3 Linear 2.0 t
- Second 2.0 T I've driven in which the engine felt coarser
- That stupid passenger air bag light stays on
- Radio controls are more confusing
SportCombi specific
- Looks worse in person than in pictures (angle from standing eye height not use ind photos)
- Rear hatch area is not that big as floor is much higher than OG 9-3
+ Seat backs fold flat without flipping seat cushions
- Seems noisier, cargo cover is just thick vinyl fabric not insulated
cardboard like OG 9-3
