My car has only 6300 miles on it, and lately I've used it for city driving in NYC. I noticed on my last tank that I was getting below 17 mpg, but I attributed that to the ridiculously heavy traffic I'd been driving in. However the other day I was driving back from NJ and noticed a strong fuel smell every time I slowed down for a toll booth and accelerated again. It continued Saturday when I drove to Randall's Island and back. The smell seems to be coming from the starboard side of the engine area.

My car was at Randall's for at least two hours and my friend said he did not see a puddle of gasoline on the ground. However, since that day and this morning, when i took it to a local parking garage, I noticed that my gas guage was nearly at the red zone, after being at over half a tank on Saturday.

Has anyone else had this problem? I've been parking on the street in Chelsea lately, and I've wondered if vandalism or gas siphoning was involved. I'm taking it to the dealer today.
