Ah Yes, Oil Changes... Posted by PGAero [Email] (#1143) [Profile/Gallery] (more from PGAero) on Tue, 24 Oct 2006 21:05:37 In Reply to: Oil Change Question, Paul Krueger, Tue, 24 Oct 2006 21:05:35 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My 9000 Owners' Manual suggests 10,000 mile changes.
I do it every 5,000 with Mobil 1, or Castrol Syntec. Oil's cheaper than an engine. (I do it myself.)
Oil changes are a very personal thing. If you drive your car "easy", and very seldom on short jaunts, then longer oil change intervals might be okay. Dirt roads, a lot of city driving, short trips where the engine never comes up to temperature, "spirited" driving... those are the things that would make me think seriously about shorter oil change intervals.
I'd have a hard time letting ANY car go more than 10,000 between oil changes, but this is coming from someone who always heard "3,000 miles or 3 months!!!" when I was younger (I'm only 27, geesch!).
My dad's '76 Porsche called for 15,000 mile oil changes. It also held 12 quarts. (He never went 15,000...)
Hope this random bit-o-typing helps!
