I feel your pain.
You would have to get a '06-later 2.0T bumper lip spoiler to make it look right. Without it, your front end would look funny.
The front spoiler attaches to the wheelwell molds, and those molds would be exposed w/o the front spoiler. Also, the attachment fittings for the front spoiler would also be exposed as well as the plastic splash molding under the engine. The outdoor temp sensor is also mounted with the spoiler. As an aside, your A/C won't work properly if the temp sensor is damaged.
I know this because I inadvertently ripped the front spoiler down the center on my Aero SC after hitting a tire carcass on the highway at 80+mph, making it look like a kid w/o his front teeth. It ripped out the temp sensor wiring harness and left a gaping 18inch hole in the splash molding under my black Aero SC. I tried to remove the remaining pieces of the spoiler, but just left it attached until I got the spoiler replaced.
