I think the A4 has more fancy features but Saab is a better package.

Although the 9-3 does not have a nice interior. It has more simple and "common sense" layouts.

I test drove both and found:

Saab 9-3 2.0t
- It is quicker
- Leather seat is better
- It is more practical, more bangs for the buck.
- It has the best safety rating.
- It has bigger trunk.
- The seats have more leather (the back of the Audi front seats were not covered entirely by leather).
- Start the car between seats is still my favor.
- Saab honors warranty work easier.

Audi A4 2.0t
- quattro is fun
- Much better interior
- no rattle
- engine noise is louder
- Audi took out the free schedule maintenance in 2007 but we can prepay if for ~$600.
- It has 2 tall edges around the transmission area. I don't like them.
- Both temperature and clock displays are located on the driver side. The passenger cannot see them.
- The storage area under the armrest is narrow and small.
- It's more difficult to get out from the seats.
- Rusts may appear sooner on the exhaust system than you expected.

I have an A4 and a 9-3 (OG).

A4 is a nice car and have better handling. That is. I got it because I wanted to try something different and because of quattro.

I think Saab is more practical and it is more a family member than a car.
