It's my understanding that battery testing can tell if the battery is presently "bad" or compromised, but with the newer battery technology (some designs as I referred to before) the failure is sudden and not predictable (like plates going from good to shorted in a second). This isn't the old style of battery that would slowly degrade until it no longer maintains a sufficient charge or can sustain a particular load.
Thus, I believe that these factory battery's can work and test 100% fine one day and then fail the next. In my case the car started and operated perfectly (probably would have had measured at least 12.6 to 13+ volts), I drove 2 blocks, shut it off, and then on re-start the battery failed and measured only 8 volts (not strong enough to crank the starter, nor lock the doors). That is why you are gambling the longer you wait beyond the 2 year zone IMHO. Some will last longer...much longer even...but most will probably fail within 2 to 4 years is my guess from looking at the posts.
