I bought a 9-3 Arc in 10/03. 53k miles now. The trans was replaced at 35 k miles due to antifreeze contamination (fixed on 2005+ models). There was a backorder of 18 trans, so I think a lot were replaced. This is actually a plus if you find one like mine. I have to rotate tires often due to rear tire wear (2 alignments and different tires did not cure. Do NOT cross-rotate tires). Apart from ~5 recalls, I had a software reload to get CDs to eject. The driver door would not close once - fiddled for an hour to solve stuck latch. Auto up-down windows have to be reset sometimes per owners manual. Give serial no. to dealer to confirm recall work done. >>Pay dealer or trained Saab mechanic to check the whole car before you buy, including trouble codes. Replacing battery sets multiple codes. >>Look at oil change doc; mechanics say 15k changes cause sludge with engine failure sometimes, even with Mobil 1. I enjoy the car a lot, and expect to keep it a long time.
