I had one hairy situation where I moved into the shoulder on snowy roads and perhaps overcorrected, but the car kept me from losing control. This was a 2004 9-3 Linear auto.
With my (former) 2006 9-3 SC 2.0 T manual with snow tires, I drove through some very slick ice/snow/wind conditions where many cars had spun out and I was able to maintain control without issue.
ESP works as advertised if not better.
