93 rear brake replacement

I tried to replace the rear brake pads in my 2005 93. After I removed the brake caliper, the outside pad come off easily. However, it appeared that I could not remove the inside pad from the caliper carrier unless I took off the caliper carrier off (as you would to replace rotor). Is there anyway to remove the inside pad without removing the caliper carrier? Thanks for any help. Dave
