Handbrake adjustment

As the rear pad got worn down the lh piston came out so far that it started binding. While the pads were binding I tried releasing them by pulling the hand brake while drivin slowly on a gravel road for a few times. That didn't help so I replaced the pads, which did the trick.
After replacing the pads I could notice that the hand brake cable had obviously stretched as I could pull the lever all the way up. I had to adjust the adjustment screw in the middle console for 10 turns to get the lever to its normal operation range. The right hand brake works correctly but the lh brake will brake only sligtly when pulling the parking brake handle. Obviously the brakes are out of balance, is there anything I can do to balance them? There's only one adjustment screw available...
