The Tech II costs thousands, plus you have to pay $$$ for a yearly (?) software subscription I think... This is why if you take your Saab somewhere and they have to use the Tech II they charge a flat fee just for plugging in. Around CT it's $60-70.
You can use generic OBD readers to read and clear check engine lights on Saabs, but you can't use them to make any sorts of changes to their electrical/computer systems.
Find a friendly independent Saab specialist with a Tech-II and take Click and Clack's (NPR - Car Talk) advice to bring him some fresh warm brownies. Maybe he'll give you a deal. Good luck!
