Imagine that GM knew full well that in 2004 the digital only cell system was about to be a reality. Yet they sold a Onstar system for full price that was doomed with no path to upgrade it. There were many customers who bought their vehicles because it had Onstar and they liked it. GM's response was tough , buy a new car !
On my 2004 Aero I simply pulled the plug from the unit in the dash and installed a Parrot bluetooth device in Onstar's place giving hands free cell service.

In regards to Onstar being an impediment to selling your um .. lets see a Glacier Blue Aero ( is it Manual ? ) 9-3 Convertible with spring coming on .... OK I'll give you 3k because it has that lousy ONSTAR in it.
or you could buy a classified ad on Saabnet and you might get a bit more for it !!

ONSTAR - Life is too short , move on but never forget what a great company GM was ...Not
