I have a 2005 9-3 Convertible. It has heated seats. The top is insulated. I have never noticed it to be any cooler to get into than my 9-5 Aero.
In this past winter had some days where the temperature was 10 degrees below zero. The very interesting difference between the 9-3 and 9-5 is that the 9-3 produces heat from the heating system mych more rapidly. In less than a minute there is some useable warmth.
Driving capability in the snow is good with all season tires and since the rims from the 9-5 fit the 9-3 I tried with dedicated snows and the snow capability was excellent.
There is a little more noise when passing trucks and other loud vehicles but it is not excessive.
Yesterday we hit record high in upstate New York , over 80 degrees. That is where the real advantage lies. It glues a permanent mile on your face. Also all the kids ( and a lot of adults) love to watch the top up and down show !
