I'll put this up to make it public, I just e-mailed steelix this as a response:
*********************************************
"No, if you buy a used CIM it HAS to have been correctly divorced from the car it came from in order for it to work. They are specifically designed so that you cannot put an already programmed one into another car, there's no way to mate it to the new car without it being properly removed.
There are two places that I have worked with who can set you up - one to check out is http://www.lostsaabkeys.com/cim_removal.html - they have blank CIM's that come with two new keys mated to it already for $595.
You can also call Steve, the owner of Elite Foreign Auto Parts here in LA - 818 768 1350 - he runs a SAAB-only junkyard, and I know that he has two CIMs that are divorced (I divorced them for him the last time I was there) that he could sell you with one matching key, no idea what he wants for them though, you could tell him I gave you his #."
**********************************
Best,
Drew
