Check engine light came on, then went off, so I assume all is now OK:
(1) "Time For Service" message on SID because not reset from early service (took the car in to have included service done when the future of Saab was in doubt) didn't reset myself for several days;
(2) Washer reservoir low message on SID, it wasn't raining so I postponed replenishing;
(3) car sat for a couple of days;
(4) reset "Time for Service" and noticed the cartoon engine light lit -- I thought it was part of the Service warning, but it was Check Engine;
(5) Checked the oil, put in about a quart (synthetic blend, but I didn't want to be low, and that was available.
(6) Check engine light stayed on after oil was added, at a gas station.
(7) On the way home (to the dealer?) stopped for coffee. Car sat for a while. Then, when I restarted, Check Engine Light was no longer illuminated.
OK. So I guess the car is fine. But what was the light indicating (service, washer, oil, all three?, fuel filler cap?) and why did it turn off later, and not right away after fuel and oil were added?
