Granted, I've spent much more time on the 9-5 and Gen BB's than the 9-3, having owned my 9-3 only a year, vs. buying a new 2002 9-5 Aero SW, but I don't recall seeing much here about amp's failing.
Searching this BB some, I found someone stating that failure of Amp1 is the most common problem with the optical bus shutting down, but that's not the same as Amp1 commonly fails.
Perhaps the optical bus is a negative for the 2003-2006 SS's, and a particular negative for the 2004-2006 CV's, as the amps are located underneath the floorboard, subject to cabin spills of your Big Gulps, but...
Just how many are having these fail?
