My odometer on my 2004 Arc just crossed 100k two days ago. Car is still going strong. Steering and suspension still feel great, car looks and runs great, so I plan on keeping it for another couple of years at least.
Did a spreadsheet this morning to total the service cost over the 100K miles and found that I have spent a total of $5,600 (or about $.06/mile). I don't know how this compares to experience of others ? Through the first 50K the cost per mile was $.03 (warranty service covered good part of this period). Higher >50K due to brakes, tires, thermostat housing, 60K maintenance.
I do small mtce. items myself (wiper blades, cabin filter, hood emblems, shark fin replacement). All else done by Saab dealers. The $5600 includes all service, tires, wiper blades, even one $50 dent removal. The most significant expense was the 60K service ($1,217) that included fluid change/flush, new battery, serpentine belt, plugs, filters, etc. The only real "repairs" I've ever had to have done on this car were the thermostat housing at 99K miles and at 90K the replacement of the shark fin (hairline cracks).
Overall, very pleased with the cars reliability.
