I don't think you'll find it terribly more difficult than a '99 9-3. My wife just got rid of her '99, I have a '01, and my dad has a '02 9-5 wagon. The '99 was replaced with a 2006 9-3 2.0T.
I plan to continue servicing this car, and it doesn't appear to be all that more complicated. Some more electronics? Sure. DIY-proof? Not at all. Oil filter is a cartridge style, but still accessible from the top. Still has an oil drain plug like other cars. Trans still has the same drain plug. Spark plugs have individual coils, but still on top of the engine. The engine compartment seems a little more "open" to me. Power steering pump is electric, and on the rack. That saves a pulley, and some extra tubes/hoses. The one thing appearing more difficult is the water pump. That runs off the timing chain. But, that's not an "electrical/computer" change.
Suspension is suspension, so nothing overly complicated there.
