06 Aero transmission

I have just bought an '06 Aero with 98000 Km (60,000 miles).
I have read the posts suggesting changing the transmission oil relatively quickly. My indi asked what transission was in th car and, according to the serial number it is a 6 speed. However he asked whether it was the GM or German ? (apparently it makes a difference to the costs as one requires a filter change and the other does not ) How do you tell which transission is in the car?
Secondly, he indicated that the cost would be between $250 -$320. That seems high for an oil change?
