Had an interesting problem today on an '03 9-3SS. Vehicle has 121k, one owner, super super clean vehicle.
Two months ago had to SPS the CIM as both (2) remote transponders lost their remote abilities at the same time. There is a known update in TIS for this condition. Fast forward to last week, owner noticed the front fogs were inop. No indicator on the dash, nothing.
Checked all DTCs, nothing (yes an '03 SS with zero DTCs). Checked fuse, all good. Got security access and simply went to ADD accessories for the Front Fog Lamps. Completed the procedure, lamps no go. Manually activated the LH and RH lamps and both worked fine, also when activating all exterior lamps in the service menu. Checked operation of the fog switch in values, works. Went on and re-added the UEC and BCM to the vehicle BUS making sure to select yes for front fogs. Nope. Checked software on SPS for updates, both modules current with TIS2Web. Last thought to was to program the UEC and BCM to NOT have fog lamps, following with programming both to have front fogs. That worked!
Have not run into this before with any vehicles so hope it helps out if needed in the future. Somehow the programming had a bug it seems. Once I stopped telling the vehicle yes you have fogs by saying no you dont, but now you do, it corrected the fault.
