Why Does Such a Bad A$% Car Havta Feel Like Mush? Posted by SaabAficionado [Email] (#758) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SaabAficionado) on Wed, 27 Feb 2013 05:55:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I love my 2004 9-3 Aero unconditionally...really! But what is up with the mushy clutch pedal, gas and steering? The brakes, besides having very little means of modulating them when driving hard, seem awesome. The thing feels like it'll stick in a corner (so long as you don't hit a bump) like a tuned race car, but I can't tell for sure because steering feel is so rubbery I don't know if I'm gonna stick or swap ends in a really hard corner (so far, so good). Not to give BMW any more credit than they get already, but I can feel every pebble under my wife's 550 (although it's infinitely more supple over bumps) and I know exactly where I "stand" in every corner. The brake modulation is awesome and oh yah, NO CHEAP FRICKIN RATTLING PLASTICS :) My second gear synchro has crunched since day one and if I wanna drop it down to third at say 50 miles an hour I have trouble finding it, let a lone a quick shift to 4th once redline comes around.
I can probably sum up all the bad about my car with 2 letters "GM."
That said, the 550 ain't got nothing on my Aero in terms of outright beauty, Saab heritage (such as it is with the GM Saabs) and uniqueness...everybody has a BMW and I wouldn't trade my Saab for 10 of 'em.
