I agree with Anders I would be afraid of cracking something,I have used 5/8 flat bar bent into a U with a file to turn it i put the file across the two legs uf the U and hold it down with my hand on the top. also some people use a 4" pvc coupling with groves cut into it to fit the notches of the ring. try to come up with something like that before hitting it.also spray the ring good with wd40 before and a little vaslene on the O ring when reinstalling. good luck
