Absolutely no way around it. People with the NG 9-3's talk about cutting a hole under the rear seat but that will DEFINITELY NOT work for 9-3 SS's. Even if you did cut out a hole under the seat you wouldn't be able to get to the plastic fuel pipe that runs back towards the rear of the car and around to the right side of the tank. Also, there is an infuriating plastic clip directly under the top of the pump assembly that attaches a hose that is directly in the tank; good luck trying to get that off without dropping the tank. Finally, the pressure and return lines run just between the chassis and the tank with very little room in between. No way to get to them without dropping the tank. I did the whole procedure last week and it was a pain for me but far from impossible. I did it in a day but woulda been better off spreading it over a couple and cooling out a little more. But like most anything else, the next time will be a snap!
