Oh yeah, the broken spring curse Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Wed, 28 Oct 2015 16:35:16 In Reply to: I have one too., Sondeen [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 28 Oct 2015 14:30:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
We had ours break in December 2012. Actually they may have broken anywhere up to 6 months previous to that but we got the verdict in December after making a Service Appointment at the local Dealer (yes, we still have one) to diagnose the random noise we were hearing from the front suspension.
The Dealer had no springs in stock. No other Dealers would sell their springs to our Dealer at normal trade costs, they wanted two to three times the normal price from what we were told. Saab had just gone bankrupt and there was temporarily no Saab USA Parts organization.
The Dealer told us to park the car in their back lot for the 2 to 3 months it might take for parts to start flowing again. I said 'Nuts to that' and drove the car home. I then found springs in stock in the UK - under the OEM supplier's brand name - and had them shipped to me, arriving in less than a week.
I then made an appointment with the Dealer for warranty installation of the springs I was providing, applied for Warranty Reimbursement to GM for the price of the parts. I was successful on my second request for reimbursement of parts cost.
The only time when I had difficulty obtaining parts.
