Hello Fellow Saabnetters:
The old 03 9-3 Linear tripped 355k yesterday! But, I've noticed a lot of road noise as of late. I'm hoping it is my tires since I have been slack in rotating them, but I am also thinking by pure mathematics that the rear wheel hubs are nearing the end of their line (they are still originals). Does anyone know how long these things can go or am I on borrowed time with the life they have given me?
Perhaps tonight I'll get the jack and wrenches and rotate my tires and listen for the noise, but assuming the wheel hubs are shot, does anyone have any good brands in mind? I remember when I replaced my front around 200k I went with FAG oems and they have been great. Seems like SKF makes the oems for the rear? I saw them for 175 (350 for pair) and that seems like a fair price, although the aftermarket is 100 per pair (probably to cheap to be worth the time of replacing them). Are their any good brands in between that seem to work ok? I saw Timken makes a rear wheel hub too, but from what I've heard in the name of outsourcing, they aren't what they used to be.
I plan on driving this old girl till the wheels literally fall off, or if the Lord let's me get 1,000,000! Either way, any help is appreciated.
Best,
BenR
